Premier Mario Monti’s office has slammed reports that the Italian government is considering blocking the traditional 13th month bonus for public service workers and pensioners.
It said that such false reports only set off alarms and risk blocking consumer spending, damaging the economy. Most Italian employment contracts include an extra month of pay each year.
