Tradition for the care of vineyards and technological innovation in the cellars. This is the recipe of the wine company Lanzara di Menfi (Agrigento), a territory that together with Alcamo and Trapani represent the second wine district in the world after Bordeaux.

The company is located on a promontory of 48 hectares, 270 metres above sea level, and dominates the San Vincenzo Valley, in a landscape fraught with vineyards, olive trees, citrus trees and prickly pears. “The vineyard that produces wine is 25 hectares wide” explained the company manager, “and the land, of chalky origin mixed with sand, exalts the aromatic qualities of the grapes, allowing a natural hydration of the plants, and a perfect balance between production and quality”.

This is how Lanzara obtain their products, among which there are also two spumante: Rosa D’Avola, a rosè extra dry obtained by the monovarietal Nero D’Avola grapes processed at a controlled temperature, and the Costanza, an extra dry spumante of Grecanino. As far as the wines are concerned, apart from the Elitre, monovarietal Grillo, and amongst the red wines a blend of Nero D’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon, Terre dell’Istrice and the cru of the company, the Cromazio, in the company there is also the San Vincenzo line, with a white and a red wine, that take the name of the company, the real centre of the activities.

Set like a precious stone between the vineyards and the olive trees, the Baglio San Vincenzo is located in the area where the river San Vincenzo flows. The name Baglio was chosen because it refers to the old Sicilian manor farms, which are surrounded by the hills of the wildlife reserve of the Belice Valley and the Carboj Valley, that from Menfi descend to the African sea.

Here the Lanzara family created a cellar with 300 barriques and a resort with 12 rooms with typical Sicilian furniture. The suites have a panoramic terrace, the rooms are oriented towards the Sicilian countryside and the double rooms overlook the ancient courtyard. The courtyards lead you to the dining area, a restaurant created in the rooms of the cellar which dates back the 18th century and the conference hall can welcome up to 120 people. Finally the resort is also equipped with a swimming pool, a sauna, a tennis court and other social activities. The Baglio San Vincenzo is only 15 minutes away from the Sciacca thermal centre, so it could be a good occasion to combine thermal relaxation and tourism.
