Last July Amy Winehouse died when she was only 27. Starting from her debut in 2003, she has been one of the most fascinating singer of the so-called “new soul”. Rumors circulated about her, her vices and sins. But today we want to draw the attention on this extraordinary artist. We would like to remind her warm and sharp voice, smooth but cutting at the same time.
Her voice was a sort of code. Amy Winehouse coded the sounds of weakness and disappointment, and maybe she wasn’t aware of it. Her music and voice were able to overwhelm and to charm anybody – just like a wave rocked by the wind or, sometimes, by the storm. Just like Amy.
Today we want to remember her through one of her best live video showing her performance at the Porchester Hall of London: BBC Sessions (August 3rd, 2007). 51 minutes of pure soul music.
